Services

Goodwill career centers prepare job seekers for in-demand careers. People come to Goodwill to learn new skills, earn credentials, create résumés, and prepare for interviews.

 

In 2020, Goodwill helped 1.5 million people build competencies, earn jobs and advance in their careers. More than 24 million people accessed Goodwill virtual career navigation, training opportunities and online hiring events.

  • Grow with Google Development Career Accelerator (GDCA)
    Grow with Google Development Career Accelerator (GDCA) is a web-based program that allows certifications in a variety of careers including project management, IT support, UX Design, Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, & E-Commerce. Each certification is in a high growth field with the curriculum certified through a collaboration between Coursera and Google.
  • Wheels To Work
    This program seeks to bridge transportation gap for people in our catchment area of WV.
  • Open Enrollment
    Open Enrollment offers weekly sessions provide enrollment into our programs and information about community resources to connect individuals with needed services • Discover all of GoodwillKV’s programs and services • Each Wednesday, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM • Via remote or on-site at the Goodwill Prosperity Center • Individuals and small groups welcome • Appointment required, for safety reason Learn More >
  • Good Samaritan Program
    The Good Samaritan Program distributes vouchers to qualified individuals for FREE merchandise available in Goodwill stores.
  • Hosted Job Fairs
    Job Fairs support local employers in building their candidate pools and job seekers to access employment opportunities
  • Snap Outreach Program
    The Snap Outreach Program identifies and assesses individual eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
  • Suited for Success
    If a program participant or referral from one of our community partner agencies needs appropriate attire for job interview, we will provide them with complete outfit for that interview. Donations for Suited need to be marked as such if they are brought through donations or bins. Suited donations can all be dropped off at front desk of Prosperity Center.
  • Information and Referral
    This program offers education and linkage to necessary support services including housing, health, transportation, food and education (Medicaid, KRT, Connect, etc.)
  • Intensive Career Services
    Determine vocational assets and establish individualized career goal Open Enrollment (Wed. 1pm-3pm) Intake appointment with Employment Specialist Develop the skills necessary to be work ready Transitional Work Experiences (60 day Paid Training) Work Readiness Classes (1-2 week Soft Skills class) GoodHOST (Food handlers card, OSHA 10 Maintenance card) Digital Skills Training (BridgeValley Classes) Temporary Employment Services (Staffing) Search for and secure employment related to career goal Job Development (submitting applications) Resume assistance Mock Interviews (Interview Etiquette, 100 most commonly asked interview questions) Attain employment retention, advancement, and continued education Collaborations with educational institutions (SNAP2Success) Post-Employment Supports (Monthly follow up checks in for 1 year)
  • Intro to Career Development
    (Soft Skills) is a two-week class
  • RAISE
    RAISE is our resume assistance and mock interviews program designed to help you develop interview-ready skills.
  • Computer Lab
    The Computer Lab is open to the public and employees Monday through Friday from 8:30am – 4pm. The lab is contingent on staff availability.
  • Bridge Valley
    Once, each semester, Bridge Valley comes to Prosperity Center and teach a 5 week Clerical Skills Set class on components of Microsoft Office. There is test at end of 5 weeks and if participant passes, they get 5 free credit hours to use towards degree or certification program at Bridge Valley
  • SNAP 2 Success
    If person seeks to advance education and they or a member of their household receives SNAP benefits we can assist with paying for incidentals (Books, laptops, etc.) once FAFSA and HEAPS are applied.
  • Uniforms for Final Salute
    We take donated military uniforms so that any unaccompanied services member will be able to be buried in the uniform of their military branch.
  • Mission Mobile
    The new “Mission Mobile” program will feature a custom mobile unit that will serve as a career and training development hub providing services to West Virginians in Goodwill’s twenty-county footprint. Additionally, the mobile unit will be equipped with a classroom, designated career coaches, and Wi-Fi service for the individuals in the community needing connectivity, and much more!
  • My Career Advisor
    Gain access to a wealth of skills training, career development, and community support—all at no cost. Registering for a complimentary account unlocks a plethora of benefits, including a comprehensive resume and cover letter builder, a variety of online courses, invaluable job search tools, and expert interview preparation resources.
